Roy Halston Frowick with Bianca Jagger in one of his designs
Is it just me, or have you noticed that every magazine page you flip through or fashion site you browse, Halston Heritage is front and center???
In all likelihood, the popularity re-boot of the line is owed to the creative advisor, the forever fabulous, Sarah Jessica Parker. It’s amassed a huge cult following since its launch in 2009 and has been well-received by celebrities. Halston Heritage is a line of the legendary American fashion power house, Halston. Halston was responsible for the ‘Hippy-Grecian’ look of the 1970′s (draped fabrics, long one-shoulder silhouettes, wide leg trousers, high turtlenecks) often seen sweeping the dance floor at Studio 54. The designs were sported by huge, of-the-moment stars like Bianca Jagger and Liza Minneli. The new line stays true to form by showcasing the silky-loose fabrics, cut-out detail, single-shoulder gowns, and asymmetrical lines. The style has more recently been adapted as a ‘Hippy-Chic’ look. Celeb stylist like Rachel Zoe, are adding more glamour to the bohemian style by over accessorizing and adding oversized faux-fur and sky-high platforms. During fashion week this past September, the runways were covered in 70′s inspired looks for spring 2011. The 70’s were a successful and brag-worthy era for fashion, and I’m thrilled so many of the styles are back with a new twist. Thanks Roy… RIP
