Hi, friends! Mattie here. Frock Candy’s headquarters is nestled right in the middle of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. To celebrate Mardi Gras, we wanted to share with you a homemade king cake recipe that has been in my family’s stash for years! There are many ways to make a king cake and this one is as simple as just a few steps!

INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cans of crescent rolls
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of confectioners powdered sugar
- 8 oz. cream cheese
- Pie filling (Optional)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Green, Gold, and Purple Sprinkles (can use food coloring + granulated sugar)
- About a table spoon of milk
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees

STEP ONE:
Lay out crescent rolls one at a time, pressing the points together in the middle. Continue until you have a circle with all points facing inward.

STEP TWO:
Combine vanilla, powdered sugar, and cream cheese and blend.

STEP THREE:
Place the mixture in the middle of the circle as shown above.

STEP FOUR: (OPTIONAL)
Add pie filling on top of the mixture.

STEP FIVE:
Roll the points of the crescent rolls back over the mixture + filling.

STEP SIX:
Roll the flat end of the crescent rolls over to the middle of the circle and tuck under.

After the entire circle is tucked under, bake for 20 minutes or until a golden brown color.

STEP SEVEN:
While the cake is baking, start to blend powdered sugar and milk to form the icing. Remember to drop just a tiny bit of milk in at a time because you don’t want the icing to be too runny. The above picture shows about how thick you want the icing.

What the cake looks like when you take it out.

STEP EIGHT:
Start to drizzle the icing in the middle of the cake and around the entire circle. Once the icing hits the warm cake, it will spread around the edges. Now add the sprinkles!

AND ENJOY! <3
See? So simple! And of course delicious. If you make one, be sure to send us a pic! We’d LOVE to see your creation!
