If you read our post a couple of weeks ago, you know that our Web Team member, Alaina, is a girl of many talents. Besides being a superstar at work, we’ve come to find out that she’s also an amazing singer, a budding actress, and she loves playing with hair and makeup. Since she always look pristine, we’ve asked her to share her everyday beauty secrets with us on the blog, and today she’s put together a quick and easy hair tutorial that any of us can try.
In her first installment, Alaina talks about three different ways to braid your hair. If you’ve noticed, braiding is back in a big, big way. We’ve seen it everywhere from Pinterest to the runway and we’re eager to jump in on this trend! Alaina goes through three of her favorite styles in order from easiest to most difficult, but they are all a breeze for anyone to try out. Whether you want to wear your hair in a side braid, go with the hairline braid, or try for the headband braid, you’ll be looking oh-so-sweet in no time! Watch Alaina’s video, and follow along with our step-by-step guide for each look:
Side braid:
1. Pin hair to one side
2. Section off hair for your braid (two or three strands depending on if you want a regular or a fishtail braid) starting at the top, like you’re starting a French braid.
3. Braid down the side of your hair, picking up pieces as you go.
4. Tie off the braid with a small hair band.
5. Gently tug at sections of the braid to make it more voluminous or slightly messy, depending on your preference.
Hairline braid:
1. Part hair to the side and gather a section of hair close to your hairline.
2. Begin French braiding your hair, staying as close as possible to your hairline.
3. Pin your braid down wherever you want it to end, whether it’s close to your ears, or if you want it to go all the way behind your head.
Headband braid:
1. Grab about an inch section of hair from the side of your head, close to one ear.
2. Begin braiding hair upward and over your head.
3. Pin end of braid near the same area of your head on the opposite side.
4. Do the same thing on the opposite side, pinning the end of your second braid close to where you began your first braid.
There you have it – three amazing new looks to try out on your hair this weekend! Tell us which one’s your favorite, or if you have a special way you’re trying out the braid trend this season – we want to hear about it!
