It’s no secret – we have fabulous models here at Frock. Not only are they beautiful, but they have the personalities to boot! This month, we’ve decided to let our adorable model, Heather, take the reigns on our Pinterest account. Just talking to Heather, you get the sense that she truly loves life and enjoys finding the beauty in her every day – what’s more Frock than that?

We sat down with Heather and asked her a few questions about her life outside of modeling and were completely taken by her positive outlook on life, how she is inspired everyday, and her fun eclectic style that is all her own. We hope you will be, too! Follow her board on our Pinterest to see what she’s pinning and loving this month.

Tell us about your job – what do you do for a living (other than modeling)?

I work part time at Tealou and Josephine, the only domestic arts shoppe in the country. I work alongside with my mom, who founded Tealou and Josephine about 3 years ago. We teach classes in all of the domestic arts which have become lost over the generations (knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, herb gardening, art, mosaic, soap making, etc). The other part of my time is dedicated to creating things for my Etsy shop, working on commissioned artwork, and trying to get a Greek design business off the ground.

What do you like to do for fun? Do you have any hobbies/special talents?

Oh gracious! I am the queen of hobbies. I enjoy doing just about anything I can get my hands on. From painting & sewing, to playing guitar & writing music, all the way to watching football, playing cards, telling bad jokes or fly fishing in the mountains – I LOVE it all! Life is my favorite thing and I take full advantage of it in any way possible.

What inspires you, whether it be with your art or just in your everyday life?

In my everyday life, it would be music and nature. Waking up in the morning and putting a ridiculously happy song on full blast while opening the blinds to look at our beautiful earth and yelling “Hello world!” with a huge smile – that alone inspires me to be great that day. To truly make the most of it and be a good, happy & thankful person. If you haven’t given it a shot, try it tomorrow morning – it might just make your day!

What inspires me in my art? South Louisiana, rustic/coastal scenery and Pinterest. Enough said!

How would you describe your sense of style? Are there any pieces in your closet that you find yourself wearing constantly?

I would call it “edgy classic.” Being that I am the world’s most frugal person, I have always shopped for items that would have a long shelf life in my closet. I also tend to gravitate toward flattering styles and shapes because I believe a feminine look can be a powerful weapon to any strong woman. As far as the “edgy” part of the equation goes, I LOVE to pair the latest trends with timeless pieces. It makes for a classy look that is absolutely versatile. Accessories are key. I am also a huge vintage fan and have been wearing pieces since high school that have coincidentally come into style much later over the years. It always amazes me because I don’t consider myself overly “fashion forward.” I just happened to love the way high waisted shorts and skirts looked when I was 15!

What’s your favorite DIY project you’ve done?

That might be the toughest question yet! I create something new every single day. That question is just plain mean! Ok, but seriously… my recent favorite DIY has to be a rug- turned-tote-bag that I recently made. With its aztec/native weave pattern, it is perfect for fall. A close second place would probably go to a pair of precious stud rose earrings made from newspaper then painted with gold leaf.

What are five things you can’t live without?

Eyelash curler, iphone, good sunglasses, hair ties & chocolate.

What’s your favorite quote to live by?

“Success isn’t a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire” -Arnold Glascow
